Mission to Zimbabwe - Writers Roost - Joan S. Hust - Author, Speaker, Missionary

It is a landlocked country in Southern Africa. It is between the Zambezi and Limpopo rivers. South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Mozambique surround it. It was Rhodesia when we first lived in Africa and then they gained their independence and became Zimbabwe. The three languages that are common are English, Shona, and Ndebele. It is home to the Victoria Falls, one of the natural wonders of the world, the stone enclosures of Great Zimbabwe, remnants of a past empire, and to herds of elephant and other game roaming vast stretches of wilderness. For years it was a major tobacco producer and a potential bread basket for surrounding countries. We were living in Zambia when the border opened and I drove my Isuzu 12 hours with three girlfriends to Harare. I was so excited as I was able to buy a couple of bottles of catsup (tomato sauce to them) to bring home. I knew the soldiers at the border as their children had been on my CLUBHOUSE weekly TV program, and they did not detain us but encouraged us to keep driving as it would soon be dark.

GOD is so good. HE watches over us. We reached our destination before the sun went down behind the huge baobab tree.
